  • Níagara: A Pan-American Story
Níagara: A Pan-American Story Toronto’s and Canada’s cultural elite turned out in force Thursday night to support the Panamania world premiere of “Níagara:  A Pan-American Story” at the Daniels Spectrum’s Ada Slaight Hall. Indeed, it was extraordinary to see so many luminaries descend upon the new Regent Park, not to mention the sight of a Porsche 911 and other luxury cars crawling along the neighborhood’s streets. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, led the guest list that included Karen Kain (artistic director of the National Ballet [NBOC] and Canada’s sweetheart as a former principal dancer of the company.)
  • Sergio Mendes preview and CD “Magic"
Sergio Mendes preview and CD “Magic   This Sunday night, the night of the PanAm Games’closing ceremonies, if you couldn’t care less about seeing Kim Kardashian’s ass…Kanye West, that is…head to Nathan Phillips Square for a Panamania concert that’s bound to have you dancing from start to finish. Sérgio Mendes, Brazilian music pioneer who is famed for his sexy band Brasil ’66, will bring the PanAm Games’ portion of Panamania to a close that, judging from his new CD “Magic,” in a concert that is bound to be sexy and scintillating.
  • Panamania’s The Postman – A Classic
Panamania’s The Postman – A Classic David Ferry’s current, sold-out world premiere production of The Postman is an extraordinary phenomenon. It is arguably the hit of Panamania’s 35-day arts and culture festival with long lists of eager ticket buyers.  Surely, depending on the cast’s availability, it will outlive the PanAm Games by either being extended or remounted later this year.  No announcement has yet been made.
  • The Postman’s David Ferry – A National Treasure
The Postman’s David Ferry – A National Treasure Without question, “The Postman” is the runaway hit of the PanAm Games.  It’s thrilling, powerfully emotional, and, at times sad and disturbing, but ultimately joyful and uplifting. “The Postman” is not just a politically correct, feel-good romp celebrating Toronto the Good.  The script does not shy away from blunt, racist confrontation.  The gritty language and the resulting gravitas may upset some. Moreover, “The Postman reminds us once again what a potent theatrical force its conceiver and director David Ferry is.  Indeed, this thespian shaman is a national treasure.  He is an original; I can’t think of anyone who comes close…

Louise Pitre’s Hit One-Woman Show Now Available On CD CD of Louise Pitre’s Hit One-Woman Show Now Available! If you missed Louise Pitre’s autobiographical one-woman show at Theatre Passe Muraille last week, you can still hear the music with the production’s cast album titled, as the show is, “On the Rocks: Stirred Not Shaken.” Known for her Tony-nominated performance in the Broadway company of the ABBA musical “Mamma Mia” and as Fantine in the original Canadian company of “Les Misérables,”,

Louise Pitre

Over the years, since I've been recording, I have to say that Dane Taylor and Bob Sagman of Song & Script have been instrumental in promoting my recordings. Not only mine, but all the worthwhile recordings anyone in my business would care to listen to.

I have always been impressed with their vast knowledge of the musical theatre repertoire as well as other genres but also, and perhaps most importantly, with their enthusiasm and love of the music they sell. I have appreciated their support and informed recommendations to me whenever I've been in their store. It is a gem of a store and I applaud them.

Very affectionately,
Louise Pitre
